Senior Division : born on or after 01.01.1982

First round, not to exceed twenty-five minutes

  1. Any complete work by Johann Sebastian Bach, or one or several movements from any of his major works.
  2. Mikhail Glinka: Variations on a Theme of Mozart (any version, without repeats).
  3. A virtuoso harp solo by any harpist composer of the twentieth century.

Second round, not to exceed forty minutes

  1. Louis Spohr: Fantasy in C Minor for Harp Solo, or Variations on ‘Je Suis Encore Dans Mon Printemps’.
  2. Any solo (original or transcription) by a Romantic composer.
  3. Any solo by a non-harpist composer of the twentieth / twenty-first century.
  4. One of the following:
    • Ekaterina Walter-Kune: Fantasy on Themes from the Opera ‘Eugene Onegin’
    • Alfred Zabel: Fantasy on Themes from Gounod’s ‘Faust’
    • Mikhail Mchedelov: Variations on a Theme of Paganini (candidates may omit variations 3 and 10).

Third round

  1. Reinhold Gliere: Concerto for Harp and Orchestra, plus an own-choice virtuoso solo of maximum seven minutes in length.

Intermediate Division: born on or after 01.01.1994

First round: a well-balanced, own-choice programme no longer than fifteen minutes, to include ‘Elegy in memory of Mikhail Glinka’ by Ksenia Erdely (any version).

Second round: a well-balanced, own-choice programme no longer than twenty-five minutes, to include any work by Alfred Zabel.

Third round: Georg Wagenseil : Concerto for Harp and Orchestra in G Major (with the two repeats), plus one own-choice solo work.

Junior Division: born on or after 01.01.2000.

First round: a well-balanced, own-choice programme no longer than seven minutes.

Second round: a well-balanced, own-choice programme no longer than ten minutes. One piece from the first round may be repeated.
